Inspection Policies: Updated December 2020
Dear Construction Professional:
Below you will find a list of items that may assist you in the inspection process. We encourage your feedback in growing this list as our intent is to make the inspections process flow smoothly for all involved.
Deficiency list from the prior inspection must be on the job for inspection.
All plans must be a minimum 24x36 with the approved logo on them. Plans must be neat and useable for the inspector, and should be placed in the permit box protected from the weather.
All Rough inspection requires building plans, truss drawings with layout (layout must be a minimum 11x17), energy calculations with duct layout (minimum size of duct layout 11x17 or larger, must be able to read it). Truss numbers must be clearly marked either on the truss, or have every other truss number written on the walls adjacent the location of the truss.
Insulation inspection requires energy calculations.
Roof and wall sheathings must be called in with the strap and deck. Essentially, roof and wall sheathing inspection will no longer exist. Instead of calling in a roof/wall sheathing inspection please call in the strap and deck inspection.
Strap and Deck inspection must have a ladder on the job securely fastened to the roof with at least three rungs (or minimum 3’) above the eave. Ladder must be placed on a stable foundation and at such an angle (length/4 away from the eave) to be safe. Ladder must meet the minimum OSHA requirements. For two story roofs, we will only require a ladder to the first story roof deck if one exists.
Temp poles require two ground rods and must be called in with another inspection.
Water and Sewer inspections must be called in with another inspection, preferably the underground plumbing.
Temp Poles, Green Tags and Tugs require that entire grounding system be visible. If a temp pole has already been inspected, a tug will not be allowed.
Final inspections require attic accesses to be open especially when there are no pull down stairs, with insulation specs on the job. Final inspection also requires the result of the blower door test to be on the job.
Training Days: May be scheduled from time to time. During those days, no inspections will be scheduled.
Inspections that fail for the third time for the same reason will have stop work orders placed on the job and a meeting will be held with the license holder to discuss the issue.
Please look for this policy to be updated as we implement it.
